Tarot Circle: How to Become a Millionaire

by Brigit on January 6, 2012 in Tarot Circle

Celtic cross Tarot readingThis week, Maurie from New York, USA has sent in her Celtic Cross reading for our Tarot Circle interpretation.

As with all Tarot Circle posts, I’ll provide my initial thoughts and then I’ll hand it over to you, the reader, to use the comments section to write what you see.

Remember there’s no right or wrong and you don’t have to be an experienced Tarot reader to comment.

The Question

Maurie asked the Tarot, “What do I need to know about becoming a millionaire?

I love it – such a bold and courageous question! I know that there may be some people who shake their head about asking such a money-centred question, but I like Maurie’s tenacity and ability to dream BIG.

The Tarot Spread

Maurie used the Celtic Cross spread along with the Morgan-Greer tarot deck.

Now, I have not worked with the Morgan-Greer Tarot deck before, so I will assume similar meanings to the Rider-Waite deck. It’s not 100%, but it’s the best we can do!

Here are the cards Maurie drew:

  • Present – Four of Pentacles
  • Crossing card – Strength
  • Above – Wheel of Fortune
  • Below – Seven of Pentacles
  • Recent past – King of Pentacles
  • Near future – Six of Pentacles
  • Advice – Nine of Cups
  • External influences – Judgement
  • Hopes and fears – Six of Wands
  • Outcome – Knight of Pentacles

In addition, the card at the bottom of the deck was the Ace of Pentacles.

My Interpretation of Maurie’s Tarot Reading

What a fun reading to interpret! Look at all those Pentacles cards. You can definitely tell we’re talking money here! And it just goes to show how intuitive the Tarot really is.

The Four of Pentacles shows that Maurie is currently very focused on saving her money and ensuring that she keeps a tight hold of her finances. There are probably stringent budgets and regular checking of accounts to make sure she knows where all her money is going. She has had good advice in the past and has already been earning a good income over the years (King of Pentacles). Possibly there is a husband, too, who shares a similar goal.

Of course, though, she would like even more stability and certainty and is seeking out even greater strength in her finances (Strength).

In her day-to-day life, I bet Maurie is buying up on the lottery tickets (Wheel of Fortune)! She is hoping that one day she will just get lucky and win a million dollars!

But underneath, she knows that she will need to work hard and invest her money wisely in order to make a good profit or return over the coming years (Seven of Pentacles).

In the near future, she may find that instead of always accumulating wealth, she may need to focus on sharing her wealth with those in need (Six of Pentacles). This might actually create more wealth in the long run.

The advice of the Nine of Cups is to be satisfied with what she already has. I think Maurie is already surrounded by wealth, both financially but also emotionally. She is blessed and can be grateful for all that she has accumulated already. The Nine of Cups is also the wish card, which may indicate the Wheel of Fortune might turn her way!

With the Six of Wands, I think secretly Maurie would like to be famous and earn a million dollars by being publicly recognised. Perhaps this is the picture of winning the lottery and getting 15 minutes of fame on the TV!

And finally, the Knight of Pentacles. This is certainly a conservative card and suggests that, at least for the coming year, hard work, commitment and dedication will be what she needs to continue earning money and accumulating wealth. I’m not sure she’ll win the lottery just yet so it’s important to keep her day job and keep working hard. The efforts will pay off and she will see herself getting close to her goal.

You forgot Judgement! (; This reminds me of the UK National Lottery adverts from when it began, some divine hand pointing from Heaven and proclaiming, “it’s you!”

Interestingly, Maurie tells me she doesn’t buy lottery tickets… maybe it is a sign that she could start trying?? :-) OR, it’s time to take a bit of a risk.

I will be looking at the Morgan-Greer Tarot Decks in doing this Tarot analyses.

Observations: I noticed that there are many pentacles card in your Celtic Cross reading, and like My Tarot Club says, the querent’s mind is full of financial matters. There are three major arcana cards in your reading and many minor arcana cards. The presence of minor arcana cards indicates that you have a lot of control in your finances. I would like to start off my reading by pointing out to the King of Pentacles, Four of Pentacles, and Six of Pentacles card. The Morgan-Greer characters in the three cards are facing straight to the querent; for me, this indicates that he/she already has the answer to your question. You have established your wealth and in a good position already given the King of Pentacles in the past. You may be this King, or as My Tarot Club says, you have a husband who has material power. This King may represent you; he is the highest ranking court card in the Pentacles suit. His abundance has helped you to hold your money tightly, as indicated by the Four of Pentacles card. As the man in the Four of Pentacles, you may be experiencing hardly any problems with your money. To add more, you want to be determined (Strength) in keeping your finances at your side. Perhaps you are already investing them considering that you have saved a lot in the past. In the near future, the man in the Six of Pentacles faces you straight forward, in the eye. How do you feel after looking at this card after just seeing the Four of Pentacles invest his money and the King of Pentacles established his wealth in the past? In the near future, this card suggests obviously generosity. With the Six of Wands in the hopes/fears position and the Six of Pentacles in the near future, the card combination suggests that you expect to share your wealth to accumulate popularity. Maybe you are a leader of an organization and would like to receive recognition thru generosity to others. The Judgment card also confirms benevolence to be a wake-up call to get the fortunes that the Wheel of Fortune card can bring you. To say more, juxtaposing the Judgment card with the Wheel of Fortune represents a successful card combination. The Judgment card is the twentieth card and has the numbers two and zero in it; while the Wheel of Fortune is the tenth Tarot card and has the numbers one and zero in it. The Fool card is the Tarot card with numbered zero in it and means beginnings and spontaneity. The Judgment and Wheel of Forunte card combination may signify to take a chance, take a leap of faith (like the Fool in the Tarot card), and trust Destiny’s movements. If you already are thinking about more financial plans, like the man in the Seven of Pentacles, the Judgment asks you to recognize to let Fate work on you. Thcanae man in the Seven of Pentacles, in the Morgan-Greer Tarot Deck is looking in the West. Possibly, he may be looking at his past success; how he has been working and ‘plowing’ his fields so that good crops can grow healthily. You may be the man in the Seven of Pentacles, considering that your goal before, was financial security (Four of Pentacles). The Seven of Pentacles, also indicate a change of perspective; your question confirms this. You want to know what can it take to become a millionaire. For me, the answer to this question lies in the Six of Pentacles, Wheel of Fortune, Judgment Card, and Six of Wands. To become a millionaire, you have to have a personal vision. The Wheel of Fortune will provide you this vision and there will be times when Destiny will offer you great success. The success I’m talking about here is not only in regards to your money. Success can also mean leading others as well as following leaders. In the Six of Wands, I forgot to mention the idea of following the leader. I am positive that you may be the leader in the Six of Wands card because you have the financial power to lead others (Six of Pentacles). If you want to know something about becoming a millionaire, use your status the best way you can so that you can enrich the lives of others. In this way, they will also look up to you and respect you like the rider in the Six of Wands. The Nine of Cups card in the Self position indicates that you are already happy as bee, with all the honey contained in your nine golden cups. This is a card of gratification and emotions. With all the money surrounding you already, no wonder you gain the satisfaction that this man is having. I have to tell you though that the man in the Nine of Cups is alone, like the Hermit of the Tarot. With all the money you have saved, maybe you are not yet willing to share your wealth with a family or with others. (Maybe, this is also a reason why the Six of Pentacles appeared in the Near Future position.) The man in the Nine of Cups is happy with the cups he had accumulated. As the wish card, be prepared to receive more wealth and accomplishments in the future. Also, in the self-position, I asked myself, “Why did the Ten of Cups not land in this position? Why is there a family of three showing on top of the Nine of Cups card? Why is are there also three people showing in the aspirations position? Why are there people being shown on top of the man in the Four of Pentacles? ” The Tarot may be advising you to associate yourself with families; be united with friends and groups especially with all the material wealth. The Tarot may be hoping you to have some friends, family to share your abundance. Finally, I will mention the two court cards in the Tarot reading: the King of Pentacles and the Knight of Pentacles. The two court cards are at opposing poles; the King is steady, the Knight is fast. You had the security of the King and may be willing to take risks. The Knight of Pentacles is also realistic and hardworking. He is not lured by false hopes and tackles any chores vigorously. This man, as opposed to the King, does not quit and stays true to personal convictions. As the outcome to your question, this card talks to you by being conservative in your approach to your finances. You want to take care of every detail and want to finish almost every job that you have started. This card may also tell you to be industrious and diligent, but, of course, remember to also take care of yourself. Be dedicated to your work; however, don’t focus too narrowly on your work. Work hard, play hard, as the prober goes. In order to be successful in life, don’t drive people to work too hard. Let them remember the satisfaction of working to maintain fun and happiness in life. In order to become a millionaire, dedication is required, as showed in the Knight of Pentacles; generosity and liberality is needed, as indicated by the Six of Pentacles; let Destiny work on your career, in one way or another; don’t forget to have fortitude in money management; remember the satisfaction that you already gained, and are currently gaining in the Nine of Cups; be a leader, as well as a follower (Six of Wands); continue investing in your future, as the man in the Seven of Pentacles; think like an entrepreneur, as the King of Pentacles does; and decide to make a difference, as the Judgment card calls you to do so.

In regards of colours in the Tarot, much of the colour yellow indicates positive mental activity. You may be up for more investing or saving activities regarding your money in the near future. The colour yellow-orange are less in the cards; they mean that you are craving for more. You may not only be craving for more money, you may also be craving for more friendship and inspiration. There are less of the colour blue also in the Morgan-Greer Tarot Cards; they could mean dispassion and isolation. I bet they could mean that you should go out and become more of a friendlier person; indulge in joyous activities and remember to balance work/family (filial) relationships. There are also less of the colour green in the Tarot cards; they mean that your heart is closed off. Could the Tarot cards be also telling you to open more to others; be open to families, as indicated by three people in the Judgment, Six of Pentacles, and the Wheel of Fortune card?

Numerology: Two six cards indicate downfall. I don’t want to be negative here, however, but the Tarot cards want you to be cautious of your money-managing approaches. Otherwise, you may have the downfall that the tumbling man in the Wheel of Fortune is experiencing.

When the numbered cards are added, the result is 70. Seven plus zero equals seven which equals the Chariot, a Major Arcana card; this card tells you to have self-assertion to control your finances all the more. The harder you control cash inflow and outflow, the better the victory you may achieve in your business (if you have any). You may already know this, but use your will power so that your determination to succeed will increase. If you sustain your efforts, like the man in the Seven of Pentacles, then I have to say that you may already gain more self-confidence in yourself. Assume the reins of power, be competent, and remember the authority that you hold over others.

Hoping that you will sieze the day,

Marianne :-)

Hi My Tarot Club and Marianne,

Loved both your interpretations. Looking forward to hearing what Maury thinks. Only thing I would add is a comment on the Ace of Pentacles.

If you take Marianne’s counting method and add in that “deep” card (the card left at the bottom of the deck, which could be viewed as an underlying driver or hidden motivator or…however you view such a card) and add it to the total, you get 71, and 7+1=8, the Strength card which was the crossing card in this deck.

So IF one factors in the Deep Card, we could speculate that Maury has either a gift for making money, and/or a really, really big desire to make money, and that the caution about going about it is NOT to use force (the Strength card). In other words, feel free to work hard, but take a gentle attitude, and use money only with real Love (in the highest sense of the word, not the Gucci/Ralph Lauren/latest tchatchki-buying sense). This only underscores what you both said about using incoming money for doing good.

Finally, with that Ace underlying everything, I’d say that it’s important for Maury to recognize ALL her/his material gifts, from Being Alive in itself, to all the material blessings in his/her life. Not just money. To actively look for all those blessings and be thankful for what s/he has.

Really a rather hilarious hand of cards in reaction to the question. So responsive!

I have to agree with My Tarot Club in her evaluation of the millionaire spread. I think the querent definitely has money matters on their mind with those pentacle cards! But with that wish card in there and final outcome card of Knight of Pentacles, there is no doubt that through hard work, saving, planning and *investing*, that the querent will realize their dream!

Hey everyone! Thanks for the wonderful readings all! I will be replying to most of you here.

TO MARYANNE:

“With the Six of Wands in the hopes/fears position and the Six of Pentacles in the near future, the card combination suggests that you expect to share your wealth to accumulate popularity. ”
This may mean my wealth of “knowledge” (ie: I read tarot cards/provide psychic guidance), perhaps?

“Maybe you are a leader of an organization and would like to receive recognition thru generosity to others. ” Yes, this makes sense with what I previously said :)

” man in the Seven of Pentacles, in the Morgan-Greer Tarot Deck is looking in the West. If you want to know something about becoming a millionaire, use your status the best way you can so that you can enrich the lives of others. In this way, they will also look up to you and respect you like the rider in the Six of Wands.”

This whole paragraph also resonates with what I previously stated. I try to help others out any way I can (providing guidance) and being honest with them as well.

“The Nine of Cups card in the Self position indicates that you are already happy as bee, with all the honey contained in your nine golden cups. (Maybe, this is also a reason why the Six of Pentacles appeared in the Near Future position.)”

Yes, I am very happy with my job because it’s what I always wanted and I am making decent money so far. I can work from home and stay with my family and work at my own pace. I do share my wealth with my family, I give plenty to my mother, my fiance when and if he needs, my kids, etc..I am the one primarily buying everything my kids need :). Maybe it may referring to my time.

“The man in the Nine of Cups is happy with the cups he had accumulated. As the wish card, be prepared to receive more wealth and accomplishments in the future. Also, in the self-position, I asked myself, “Why did the Ten of Cups not land in this position? Why is there a family of three showing on top of the Nine of Cups card? The Tarot may be hoping you to have some friends, family to share your abundance. ”

Ahh this makes sense with what I have stated above “maybe it’s referring to my time”. I don’t have many friends and maybe I’m not spending enough time with my loved ones :). Makes complete sense!!

“There are less of the colour blue also in the Morgan-Greer Tarot Cards; they could mean dispassion and isolation. I bet they could mean that you should go out and become more of a friendlier person; indulge in joyous activities and remember to balance work/family (filial) relationships.” This too! I’m a lonely person who doesn’t go out much and prefer to be on my own :)

Excellent reading and insight!! I appreciate it!! Thanks :)

I guess my gift would be the ability to read tarot and provide psychic guidance ? :) Also, I would like to add that The Chariot and The Strength card are two cards that I frequently get in readings!

TO DYNAMO, My Tarot Club AND PATRICIA:

Thanks for your input! I don’t play the lotto, I’ve only played it once or twice, with my second time winning around $3.00 (lol). So, maybe I should give it a try? Who knows?! :D and that is very interesting Dynamo (about the lottery logo).

Thanks all for your wonderful insight and for taking the time to interpret my tarot spread!
