You’ve just done what you thought was an amazingly insightful and accurate Tarot reading, but when you ask your client if it resonated, they tell you that your Tarot reading is completely wrong!

“I recently did a Tarot reading for a client which, for me, flowed very easily. But when I asked the client if it resonated with her, she told me the Tarot reading was wrong and completely inaccurate. I thought the cards never lie. Was my Tarot reading really wrong?”

Today’s question is from Anastasia in Italy. She asks:
“I recently did a Tarot reading for a client which, for me, flowed very easily. But when I asked the client if it resonated with her, she told me the Tarot reading was wrong and completely inaccurate. I thought the cards never lie. Was my Tarot reading really wrong?”
What a sinking feeling. You do what feels like an amazing, insightful Tarot reading only to find out that your client doesn’t connect with it at all.
There are a couple of possible reasons here.
First, you might actually be wrong. I know it hurts to say it, but sometimes we have ‘off’ days as Tarot readers and we don’t nail it every time. In fact, I always question those readers who say they have 100% accuracy because I find it hard to believe that they never get it wrong.
Second, you might actually be on target with your reading, but the client doesn’t know it yet. You see, a Tarot reading will pick up on both present and future energies. We know what is happening to us right now and we can probably make some predictions about how things will turn out. But we can’t always know for sure what is going to happen. I know I have been surprised by some major turns of events in my life that I didn’t see coming.
So it’s the same for our Tarot reading clients. They might think something is impossible, but as time passes, they come to realize that it actually is possible and has in fact happened. I have had clients email me up to 9 years later to apologize and tell me that the reading they thought was completely wrong turned out to be completely right.
So if a client is questioning the accuracy of a reading, I always suggest coming back to it in a month or two to see if it resonates further.
Finally, you might be a little bit right and a little bit wrong. Here’s how. I believe the energy of each Tarot card in a Tarot reading is mostly always right. But it’s how we interpret that energy in a reading that can be a little off. For example, say you get the Five of Cups as an Outcome card for a relationship. You might interpret it as a break-up, but in actual fact it turns out to be a general feeling of disappointment in an ongoing relationship. The energy is the same, but the manifestation of that energy – i.e. how you interpreted it – is different.

I also found from the client’s perspective that when I wanted guidance on something I was struggling with, even though I asked several readers, they gave me very different answers, neither one of whom really sounded accurate at all. I figured it was because I was in a phase in my life when I needed to sort things out for myself, and I wasn’t “allowed” any outside help at the time. The readers told me what they were shown – the exact thing I needed to hear, but stuff that had nothing to do with reality at all. Previously I had had fantastic experience with one of the readers I contacted, so it wasn’t like they didn’t know what they were doing. One thing that I needed to learn was to read Tarot for myself – otherwise I would have kept going to others who I thought had a gift I didn’t have.

Every once in a while, you nail it, and the person you’re reading for doesn’t want to admit what you read was true. They aren’t necessarily liars, sometimes people can’t see a situation clearly for what it is. They’re not ready.

I had a tarot reading a few years ago and was so disappointed because nothing the reader said made sense. She also read for my granddaughter and was spot on so I just thought that there hadn’t been a connection between myself and the reader. However two years later everything she said came to pass and it wasn’t any ordinary thing that most people will go through at some point in their lives, this was something life changing (although not in a good way). I will never write off a tarot reading now because it may not be right at this moment, but chances are it will come to pass.
Thanks so much for sharing your story, Carole. I have seen this happen many times where a Tarot reading doesn’t make sense initially, but as time passes, it becomes crystal clear. It’s often because you’re not ready for the messages at the time of the reading… so it’s a great idea if you can keep a copy of the reading and come back to it later down the track.
